Virgin
Mary: January 1st
Hail
Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women, and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Saint
Margaret of Cortona: February 22nd
O
Saint Margaret of Cortona, I too come today as a pilgrim and I pause to pray
with you at the feet of the image of Christ Crucified and Risen, whom, as a
penitent, you contemplated at length. Lord Jesus, crucified for us, in offering
yourself on Calvary for all humanity, you have revealed to us the wellsprings
of everlasting life. May the mystery of your Passion enlighten our life making
us ready to follow you on the way of holiness and love. Rekindle our faith;
teach us to recognize and welcome in our everyday life the plans of your
mysterious Providence. Give us the courage to confess our sins and open our
hearts to sorrow, in order to receive the gift of your mercy. Empower us to
forgive our brethren following the example of your love that knows no bounds.
Help us to be humbly disposed to repair the harm we have done by actively and
generously serving the poor, the sick, and all who are marginalized and without
hope. Give everyone the joy of persevering faithfully, in full harmony with the
Church, along the way of the particular calling. Above all others, show the
young the splendid plan of love that you intend to bring about for them and
with them at the threshold of the new millennium. Enable us to be peacemakers,
tenacious weavers of daily relationships of fraternal solidarity, artisans of
reconciliation, witnesses and apostles of the civilization of love. O glorious
Saint Margaret of Cortona, present this request to your Crucified Lord and
ours. Guide us with the strength of your example, support us with your constant
protection, be our companion we beg you, till we reach our Father’s house.
Amen. – Pope John Paul II, 1999
Saint
Patrick: March 17th
Glory
Be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost
Through
the intercession of St. Patrick, may God Almighty strengthen my faith, and
grant the grace of faith for others.
Amen.
Christ
as a light,
Illumine and guide me!
Christ as a shield, o'ershadow and cover me!
Christ be under me! Christ be over me!
Christ be beside me, On the left hand and right!
Christ be before me, behind me, about me;
Christ this day be within and without me!
Illumine and guide me!
Christ as a shield, o'ershadow and cover me!
Christ be under me! Christ be over me!
Christ be beside me, On the left hand and right!
Christ be before me, behind me, about me;
Christ this day be within and without me!
Saint
Joseph: March 19th
Hail
Joseph, filled with divine grace, in whose arms the Savior was carried and
under whose eyes He grew up: blessed art thou among men and blessed is Jesus,
the Son of thy dear Spouse. Holy Joseph,
chosen to be the father to the Son of God, pray for us in the midst of our
cares of family, health, and work, and design to assist us at the hour of our
death. Amen
Saint
Aloysius Gonzaga: June 21st
O Saint Aloysius, adorned with angelical manners,
although I am thy unworthy servant, I recommend to thee in an especial manner
the chastity of my soul and body; I conjure thee, by thy angelical purity, to
commend me to Jesus Christ, the spotless Lamb, and to His most holy Mother, the
Virgin of virgins. Preserve me from every grievous sin; never suffer me to
sully my soul with any impurity; whenever thou seest me in temptation or danger
of sin, ward off from me every impure thought and affection, and awakening in
me the remembrance of eternity and of Jesus crucified, imprint deeply in my
heart the sentiment of the fear of God. Inflame me with divine love, in order that
by imitating thee on earth, I may merit to enjoy God with thee in heaven. Amen.
Saint Clare of Assisi:
August 11th
God of mercy, You
inspired Saint Clare with the love of poverty. By the help of her prayers may
we follow Christ in poverty of spirit and come to the joyful vision of Your
glory in the Kingdom of heaven. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your
Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and
ever. Amen.
Saint
Rose of Lima: August 23rd
God
our Father, for love of you St. Rose gave up everything to devote herself to a
life of penance. By the help of her prayers may we imitate her selfless way of
life on earth and enjoy the fullness of your blessings in heaven. Grant this
through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who lives and reigns with Thee and the
Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
O
dear St. Rose, by the excessive love that inundated your soul when you heard
from the lips of Christ the loving words: "Rose of My heart, you shall be
My spouse!"- obtain for us and for our children a true love for Jesus
Christ and an ardent desire to be united with Him. May our hearts, enclosed in
His Heart, seek nothing but the perfection of His virtues, the fullness of His
grace, and the imitation of His example! Obtain for us patience in suffering;
gentleness under offenses; humility in calumny and abuse; and in all the
affairs of life a pure heart and a contented mind. Obtain for us constant and
generous renunciation of our willful desires, perfect victory over evil
inclination, perseverance in prayer and good works, that we may ever please our
God and, in the end, attain to a share in His glory. Amen.
Saint
Michael: September 29th
St.
Michael, the Archangel! Glorious Prince, chief and champion of the heavenly
hosts; guardian of the souls of men; conqueror of the rebel angels! How
beautiful art thou, in thy heaven-made armor. We love thee, dear Prince of
Heaven!
We, thy happy clients, yearn to enjoy thy special protection. Obtain for us from God a share of thy sturdy courage; pray that we may have a strong and tender love for our Redeemer and, in every danger or temptation, be invincible against the enemy of our souls. O standard-bearer of our salvation! Be with us in our last moments and when our souls quit this earthly exile, carry them safely to the judgement seat of Christ, and may Our Lord and Master bid thee bear us speedily to the kingdom of eternal bliss. Teach us ever to repeat the sublime cry: "Who is like unto God?" Amen.

Saint
Luke: October 18th
Almighty
God, who inspired Your servant Luke the Physician to set forth in the Gospel
the love and healing power of Your Son: Graciously continue in Your Church the
love and power to heal, to the praise and glory of Your Name, through Jesus Christ,
our Lord. Amen.
Let
holy Luke, Thine Evangelist, we beseech Thee, O Lord, intercede for us, who for
the glory of Thy name ever bore in his body the mortification of the Cross.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in
the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
Most
charming and saintly Physician, you were animated by the heavenly Spirit of
love. In faithfully detailing the humanity of Jesus, you also showed his
divinity and his genuine compassion for all human beings. Inspire our
physicians with your professionalism and with the divine compassion for their
patients. Enable them to cure the ills of both body and spirit that afflict so
many in our day.
Amen.
Amen.
Saint Elizabeth of
Hungary: November 17th
Almighty God, by whose
grace your servant Elizabeth of Hungary recognized and honored Jesus in the
poor of this world: Grant that we, following her example, may with love and
gladness serve those in any need or trouble. In the name and for the sake of and
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
Saint
Stephen: December 26th
Prayer to St. Stephen the
Protomartyr
O Great St. Stephen, the
scriptures tell us that your face was like an angel’s as you witnessed to the
truth of Christ. Please ask the Most Holy
Trinity to fill my soul and the souls of all my brothers and sisters throughout
the world with a deep hunger for the truth that comes from the Heart of Jesus,
and also with the loving courage to embrace and profess the truth even amid
difficulties, confusion, and persecution. May the serenity and
peace which were yours at the hour of your stoning be ours as well as we wait
in hope for the coming of the Lord Jesus who lives and reigns forever and ever.
Amen.
Holy Family: Sunday After Christmas
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
I give you my heart.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
be with me in my last hour.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
may I breathe forth my soul in peace with you.
Blessed be Jesus Christ,
true God and true man.
Blessed be the great
Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be St. Joseph,
her most chaste spouse.
Amen.
O Jesus, our most loving
Redeemer, who having come to enlighten the world with Thy teaching and example,
didst will to pass the greater part of Thy life in humility and subjection to
Mary and Joseph in the poor home of Nazareth, thus sanctifying the Family that
was to be an example for all Christian families, graciously receive our family
as it dedicates and consecrates itself to Thee this day. Do Thou protect us,
guard us and establish amongst us Thy holy fear, true peace and concord in
Christian love: in order that by living according to the divine pattern of Thy
family we may be able, all of us without exception, to attain to eternal
happiness.
Mary, dear Mother of
Jesus and Mother of us, by the kindly intercession make this our humble
offering acceptable in the sight of Jesus, and obtain for us His graces and
blessings.
O Saint Joseph, most holy
Guardian of Jesus and Mary, help us by thy prayers in all our spiritual and
temporal needs; that so we may be enabled to praise our divine Savior Jesus,
together with Mary and thee, for all eternity.
Amen
